Educating the Children
The Diepsloot Youth Programme has been involved with the community since 2012, working together with the South African Police Service.
We have been in the community halls and schools doing workshops based on the following:
Learning Skills workshops- teaching children about the technology on how to study and understand the materials they are learning and applying the knowledge learnt to change their conditions. About 2000 children are reached annually through the schools with this tech. Diepsloot Secondary school has been achieving a 100% pass rate on the matric results since our engagement with them.
- Drug Education – teachings on the dangers and outcomes of drug abuse.
- Human Rights Education- workshops on Human rights.
- Arts and Culture- Delivered in school as part of the school curriculum and also as an extra lesson on Saturday.
- Morals and choices- Workshops delivered to bring awareness in youth to get them to make better choices in life and to become better community members.
